What to Expect: The Adult Assessment Timeline
An assessment is a collaborative and thorough process designed to uncover how you learn, process information, and navigate your world. We look beyond surface-level challenges to provide you with an objective, detailed map of your cognitive strengths and unique processing profile.
From our initial clinical consultation to the delivery of your customized blueprint, the comprehensive evaluation takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks from beginning to end. We work alongside you through every step of this journey to ensure you feel supported, informed, and fully equipped to advocate for yourself in your career, higher education, or daily life.
Here is exactly how the process unfolds:
The Adult Assessment Process: Step-by-Step
01 | The Initial ConsultationWho is involved: You and the psychologist. What happens: We meet online or in person to review your developmental history, educational or employment background, and any past report cards or transcripts if available. We discuss the specific challenges you are currently facing in your career, higher education, or daily life so we can tailor the testing process to your precise goals. |
02 | The Testing SessionsWho is involved: You and the psychologist. What happens: You participate in one or more comfortable, interactive testing sessions. We use a curated mix of cognitive tasks, memory exercises, puzzles, and academic measures (such as reading comprehension, writing, or math fluency) to observe exactly how your brain processes and organizes information. We build in plenty of breaks to manage mental fatigue and keep the environment low-stress. |
03 | Gathering InputWho is involved: You and (optionally) a close observer.. What happens: While testing is underway, you will complete comprehensive online self-report questionnaires regarding your daily executive functioning, focus, and emotional well-being. With your explicit permission, we may also send a questionnaire to someone who knows you well—like a partner, parent, or long-term colleague—to gain a well-rounded, real-world perspective on how you function across different environments |
04 | Analysis & BlueprintingWho is involved: The psychologist. What happens: Behind the scenes, we score the objective measures, analyze the questionnaire data, and synthesize the findings with your clinical history. We write a detailed, professional clinical report that functions as a personalized cognitive and diagnostic blueprint, detailing your unique processing profile. |
05 | The Roadmap MeetingWho is involved: You and the psychologist. What happens: We sit down together to explain the diagnostic findings in plain, clear language. We hand you the completed clinical report, answer all of your questions, and walk you through a practical, step-by-step strategy guide. This meeting focuses heavily on your cognitive strengths and how to leverage them to make daily life or work feel more manageable. |
06 | Implementing Accommodations & SupportWho is involved: You, the psychologist, and your workplace or academic team (as needed). What happens: You use the clinical report to access targeted support. If you are a student, you can provide the documentation to your university’s accessibility services for formal exam and classroom accommodations. If you are in the workforce, the report can guide workplace adjustments through HR, assist your medical team with treatment planning, or simply serve as your personal guide for building a more supportive daily routine. |
